Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 04/01/2025

At Outdoorhead, accessible from https://outdoorhead.co.uk, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Outdoorhead and how we use it.

1. Who We Are

Our website address is: https://outdoorhead.co.uk.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

  • Comments: When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. We use the Akismet anti-spam service to filter out spam comments. This means we send the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself) to Automattic Inc. for spam-checking purposes. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
  • Media: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
  • Contact Forms: If you contact us via a contact form, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address and message, to respond to your query.
  • Cookies: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
  • Embedded Content: Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
  • Affiliate Links:
    • Tracking Cookies and User Data: When you click on an affiliate link on our website, tracking cookies or similar technologies are often used to record your activity. This data typically includes the fact that you clicked the affiliate link, the website you clicked it from, and basic device information (e.g., browser type, operating system). This data is used to attribute any purchases you make back to us (Outdoorhead) for commission purposes.
    • Data Shared with Affiliate Partners: If you make a purchase after clicking an affiliate link, the affiliate partner may collect data like your name, purchase details, and other transaction-related information. The affiliate program and the external website you are directed to may collect additional user data, depending on their privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these external websites.
  • Jetpack: This site uses Jetpack for enhanced website functionality and analytics.
    • Data Collected by Jetpack: Jetpack may collect information such as your IP address, user agent, referring URL, timestamps, device information (including browser type and operating system), geolocation information based on your IP address, and interaction data (such as clicks and scroll behavior).
    • Sharing of Data: Jetpack may share collected data with Automattic (the parent company of Jetpack) to enable their services. Automattic’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
    • Cookies Used by Jetpack: Jetpack may set cookies to track user activity and enhance the experience on this website. These cookies are used for features like analytics, site security, and performance monitoring.

3. How Long We Retain Your Data

  • If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

4. What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

5. Where Your Data Is Sent

  • Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet, owned by Automattic Inc.).

6. Third Party Websites Our site includes links to third party websites, including affiliate links. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of any third party website.

7. Security

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy Our website is not intended for children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
